As I grow older, I find that I am drawn more and more strongly to the art of bonsai. I look forward to spending more of my time this coming year pruning and perfecting the trees that I have worked on over the past 20 years. I find that working with the trees brings me peace of mind. Look for more pre-bonsai from us in the coming year. As the hobby grows, and more hobbyists discover Don's beautiful grafts, we find more of our customers are bonsai artists. We are eager to supply you with wonderful material for your art. |

| This is an evolving part of the site, sure to gather momentum and offer more information and photos as we go along, but right now we have gathered all of the Pre-Bonsai and selected for bonsai trees in one place to make it easier for you to see what we have available for you.

These are young trees that we have selected out of our stock that show desirable characteristics for bonsai. They have smooth low grafts and good structure. You may expect sizes smaller than those listed for stock trees because cultivars suitable for bonsai are often smaller and slower-growing than others and we do not push them for quick growth. When you go to the link below, you will see a list of cultivars available for bonsai. When you click the link to the cultivar's page, you will see any sizes we have in stock listed as "for bonsai". Type in a quantity and click the button "Add to Order" to put it into your shopping cart and proceed with your order. Before it was necessary to check a box for bonsai and we often didn't have suitable trees. We hope this new system will be a clear and straight-forward way to get you the trees you want for bonsai.

We have a large assortment of trees including yatsubusa types, lace-leafs and uprights that have been in training for several years. Some are grafted, and some are cutting propagated. They range in size from a half-inch to two inches plus in caliper. Our pre-bonsai trees are really looking great. For this we can thank the guidance of our wonderful teacher, Dennis Makishima. We are really excited to see how much each year of maturity adds to the beauty of these trees. Bonsai is a process, a living art, a collaboration with a tree. What a wonderful, thoughtful hobby.
Note: As of June 1, 2007, we have removed our Pre-bonsai trees from inventory while we work on them and re-inventory them. We will announce when they are available again.
